Breitling Celebrates Miles Davis’ Centennial With a Limited-Edition Navitimer B09

To celebrate the centennial of jazz legend Miles Davis’ birth, Breitling has unveiled the Navitimer B09 Chronograph 41 Tribute to Miles Davis. Inspired directly by the mid-1960s Navitimer ref. 806 Mk5 that Davis famously wore – transforming a pilot’s tool into an emblem of mid-century “cool” – the limited-edition release faithfully recreates its vintage predecessor while introducing modern craftsmanship.

Set in a classic 41mm stainless steel case, the watch features a monochrome black-and-white reverse-panda dial accented by era-correct “Twin Jet” badging, old radium Super-LumiNova, and a bidirectional slide-rule bezel. Limited to just 500 pieces, the watch is available on a hand-colored gradient brown calfskin leather strap or the newly revived, rally-inspired stainless steel Air Racer bracelet.

Inside beats the hand-wound Breitling Manufacture Caliber B09, a COSC-certified movement featuring a column-wheel chronograph mechanism with a vertical clutch and a 70-hour power reserve. Visible through an open sapphire crystal caseback engraved with “One of 500” and “Miles Davis Centennial,” the manual-wind architecture pays homage to the pre-automatic chronograph era when Davis originally selected his watch. The release also serves as a gateway to the upcoming Breitling Social Club in Williamsburg, New York, with each of the 500 owners receiving an exclusive two-year membership.

For ultimate collectors, Breitling is also introducing the ultra-exclusive “Lifetime Club Member Set,” limited to 50 numbered editions. Housed in a custom presentation case designed like a vintage trumpet box – complete with a blue record and a miniature red trumpet – the three-watch set groups the stainless steel edition alongside an 18k yellow gold model and a platinum version featuring a blue panda dial.
